In his speech, Fei Liu welcomed the guests on behalf of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government. He said that in recent years, Hangzhou had remained committed to the principles of mutual benefit, openness and win-win cooperation, while steadily deepening reform and opening up and expanding international economic and cultural exchanges. Looking ahead, Hangzhou will further raise the city’s level of internationalisation, accelerate efforts to build a city characterised by greater innovation and vitality, develop the core area of the Global Digital Trade Port, and establish itself as an important international centre for exchanges. The city will further expand its global network, deepen dialogue and cooperation with friendship cities, and strengthen its role as a bridge for exchanges and mutual learning among different civilisations.

Marcelo Maron, Consul General of Uruguay in Shanghai and Dean of the Consular Corps in Shanghai, said that exchanges and cooperation between Hangzhou and countries and international friendship cities around the world had continued to deepen, with notable progress in areas including the digital economy, technological innovation, urban governance and people-to-people exchanges. A special initiative to improve digital services for overseas visitors entering China in key cities across the country was also launched.

Following the opening ceremony, enterprises and organisations held business-matching discussions with consulates general in Shanghai and international organisations.
