On February 11th, a delegation led by Fengsheng Zhou, Second-Level Research Fellow of the Primary-Level Development Department of the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas, and Huafang Liu, Third-Level Research Fellow, visited the China Europe Center for Cultural Innovation (CECCI) — Higher Link International Innovation Centre(HLIIC) for guidance and exchange.
The visit was accompanied by Tingrong Rong, Chair of the Qiantang District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Yuanyuan Gao, Head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Section, Leiming Qiu, Member of the Party Committee and Director of the Organisation Department of Zhejiang Institute of Economics and Trade (ZJIET), Jun Yang, Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Precision Manufacturing, and Yinxia Si, Dean of the School of International Education and Director of the International Office of ZJIET.
Bryson Xue, Chairman of CECCI-HLIIC, gave a detailed introduction to the Centre’s development path and operational structure, and outlined its longstanding relationship with the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. He noted that since its establishment CECCI-HLIIC has received guidance and support from the Federation, and was founded with the original mission of “connecting China and the world.” This vision stems not only from his personal experience of receiving strong national support while studying abroad, but also from deep reflection on international communication in practice: truly effective cultural dialogue must move beyond traditional publicity models, build connections through emotional resonance, and earn recognition through professional capability.
The delegation spoke highly of CECCI’s operational model, noting that such practices effectively complement traditional approaches to external communication. By adopting narratives closer to international audiences and market-oriented operating mechanisms, the Centre offers new pathways for telling China’s story well. Zhou Fengsheng emphasised that the key to international communication lies in “audience acceptance.” He pointed out that CECCI’s production Far Over the Deep Blue resonates emotionally with audiences through its distinctive perspective and serves as a representative case of precise international communication.
At the symposium, the delegation expressed its expectation to work with the Centre to build broader platforms and further consolidate the strengths of the overseas Chinese community and young people. ZJIET also stated its hope to deepen collaboration with the CECCI-HLIIC to jointly promote coordinated development in related fields.
The Higher Link International Innovation Centre is a second-level unit under CECCI’s international education division. It is dedicated to advancing international education cooperation and talent development, while promoting cross-cultural exchange and resource integration. Looking ahead, the Centre will continue to strengthen its internationalised, market-oriented and professional operations, enhance collaboration with federations of returned overseas Chinese at all levels and with universities, and actively build an open cooperation platform linking China with the world, contributing further to enhancing the global reach and influence of Chinese culture.
